Heavy Focus|The World's First Ship! Assist in Deep-sea Aquaculture, Powered By Weichai!

Jun 14, 2025

With nearly 80000 cubic meters of aquaculture space and a water volume equivalent to 32 standard swimming pools, it can simultaneously carry out various fish fry aquaculture, with an annual output of 5000 tons of fish…

Recently, equipped with Weichai 16M55 high-end marine power, the world's first self-propelled water body natural exchange aquaculture vessel, the "Bay Area Lingding", was successfully launched in Jiangmen, Guangdong, marking a new era of Science and Technology for Sea Farming in China's deep-sea aquaculture.

80000 cubic meters of underwater palace redefines marine aquaculture space

The "Bay Area Lingding" deep-sea aquaculture vessel has a total length of 155.8 meters, a width of 44 meters, a depth of 24 meters, and a maximum draft of 20 meters. The entire ship has nearly 80,000 cubic meters of aquaculture space. By hanging fishing nets and separating 12 independent aquaculture compartments, multiple fish fry aquaculture can be carried out simultaneously, greatly enriching the types of aquaculture. After the completion of the "Bay Area Lingding", it can produce 5,000 tons of fish annually.

The "Bay Area Lingding" adopts an advanced all electric propulsion system, with four sets of 2250kW Weichai 16M55 marine generator sets providing the entire ship with electricity, just like having a pair of powerful fins that allow the ship to freely navigate the Bay Area ocean.

Weichai's high-end ship power provides a powerful, fuel-efficient, and environmentally friendly engine that is not afraid of wind and waves, providing a strong heart for achieving offshore aquaculture operations. In the cruising mode, the "Bay Area Lingding" can use real-time marine environment data and fish distribution to drive the propeller through Weichai engines, flexibly adjust the speed and heading, and accurately find the water area suitable for breeding fish.

Since 2022, multiple deep-sea semi-submersible aquaculture tourism platforms powered by Weichai vessels have been put into operation,

allowing marine fish such as yellow croaker to live in a fishing style deep-sea mansion.
